Writey Funny: Privacy Notice
Your trust is very important to us. Mighty Bunny Ltd is committed to protecting the privacy and security of your personal data. It is important that you read this notice so that you are aware of how and why we are using such personal data. This privacy notice describes how we collect and use personal data about you during and after your relationship with us, in accordance with data protection law.
Why are we doing this and how can you participate?
Writey Funny is a talent search supported by the BBC Radio Indie Fund, and run by an independent producer, Mighty Bunny Ltd.
Writey Funny is a nationwide talent search to find new comedy writers who are Deaf, Disabled and/or Neurodivergent.
Mighty Bunny Ltd will collect your personal data via an online platform hosted on Squarespace.
To enter, all applicants need to fill in a form hosted on the www.mightybunny.co.uk/writeyfunny then submit their two written sketches via email to writeyfunny@mightybunny.co.uk

What personal data will Mighty Bunny Ltd. collect and how will we use it?
Mighty Bunny Ltd will collect and process the personal data for the purposes of administrating Writey Funny. There are two types of personal data: personal data and special category data.
Personal data:
You need to be age 18 or over to take part in Writey Funny.
The categories of personal data that we process includes the following:
Your full name
Your contact telephone number
Your date of birth
Your email address
Your birthplace (a region of the UK or ‘outside of UK’)
Your current location (a region of the UK)
Your response to the application questions, which include your personal experience and life stories
Mighty Bunny Ltd. may also process special category data depending on the content of your submission to us. This might include for example:
Racial or ethnic origin
Religious or philosophical beliefs
Political opinions
Health information
Sexual orientation
Background checks
Mighty Bunny Ltd. will carry out background checks on those who make it through to the final stage including online and social media screening checks. We will use the personal data processed as part of background checks to verify you meet the eligibility criteria. Information returned as part of a background check may not rule you out of the awards, but non-disclosure of such information which is later discovered may result in your exclusion from the awards.
Who is the Data Controller?
Mighty Bunny Ltd. is the “data controller” of your personal data. This means that Mighty Bunny Ltd. decides what your personal data is used for, and the ways in which it is processed. For the avoidance of doubt, your personal data will be collected and processed solely for the purposes set out in this privacy notice. As the data controller, Mighty Bunny Ltd. has the responsibility to comply and to demonstrate compliance with data protection law.
Lawful basis for processing your personal data
The lawful basis on which Mighty Bunny Ltd. processes the personal data is the performance of its public task. The lawful basis on which Mighty Bunny Ltd. processes your special category data is substantial public interest.Mighty Bunny’s role as a production company submitting programme proposals to the BBC is to act in the public interest and to serve all audiences with content which informs, educates and entertains. This is consistent with the BBC’s wider public purposes under its Royal Charter which requires the BBC to “show the most creative, highest quality and distinctive output and services: the BBC should provide high-quality output in many different genres and across a range of services and platforms which sets the standard in the United Kingdom and internationally.”
Sharing your personal data
Mighty Bunny Ltd. works with our approved third-party providers who help us to provide some of our services. These partners only use your personal data on behalf of Mighty Bunny Ltd. and not independently of Mighty Bunny Ltd..We may share personal data with a third party where required or permitted by law.
Retaining your personal data
Unsuccessful (not shortlisted) entrants’ personal data will be held for a maximum of twelve (12) months after the application closing date, after which it will be deleted.Shortlisted entrants’ personal data will be kept for a period of 24 months after the application closing date, after which it will be deleted.Your personal data will be stored in the UK and the EEA.

You can request a copy of the personal data Mighty Bunny stores about you.
You have the right to request that we rectify any inaccurate or incomplete personal data that we hold about you.
You have the right to ask for the personal data we collect about you to be deleted however there are limitations and exceptions to this right which may entitle Mighty Bunny Ltd. to refuse your request.
In certain circumstances, you have the right to restrict the processing of your personal data or to object to the processing of your personal data.
You have the right to ask that we transfer the personal data to you or to another organisation, in certain circumstances.
